The Fools Pilgrimage – Imagination

Whilst on holiday over the summer I saw this sign and it resonated with me.

Whenever I do a deep contemplative meditation my imagination runs wild!

Those creative juices get flowing and all manner of odd meditative images and ‘stuff’ comes flooding into my minds eye – I’m a person of faith and have an idea in a Divine power and often I feel that ‘higher source’ flowing thru me, and in my meditations the information I need, or what would help others often bubbles to the surface of my awareness.

But, a common question I get asked, and have indeed asked my self is; “how do you know that it’s from a Force out there? How do you know it’s not just your imagination?”

My answer is always – “what’s the difference?” 

You see, ‘out there’ and ‘in here’ are simply the same thing BUT from different perspectives. My imagination simply takes ‘out there’ and brings it ‘in here’.

Einstein was a genius who used his imagination. There is no doubt that knowledge, academic studying and facts are important, but, intelligence is the ability to think beyond what is known, to dream, and to create. 

Imagination helps intelligence in figuring out what’s going on!

The power of imagination can help develop social, emotional, creative, physical, lingual, and problem solving skills.

How do you cultivate the imagination – do things that allow your mind to visualise things, you could read or tell stories. Meditation, prayer and mindfulness are wonderful for boosting imagination.

Arts, crafts and re-decorating help to boost curiosity and inquisitiveness in doing things. This is like learning a new skill. Head outside into the environment and soak up the richness of the ecology around you.

Imagination unlocks creativity and curiosity and whilst knowledge is great creativity leads to greater wisdom, peace and harmony.

Einsteins full quote was : “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination. I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”

Nurture that curiosity, unlock the imagination and let your intelligence rise 😊
